Episode 49 Transcription
00:00 Welcome to the Rich Man Podcast with me. Your host, corporate dropout, turned seven figure c e o in 18 months.
00:07 Melanie Albert. I'm a business coach that's determined to normalize women and wealth. We are completely ditching the Old, outdated boys club Way of running a business.
00:17 And I'm teaching You the new way of Attraction, marketing, soulful selling, and wealth embodiment. Instead of marrying the rich man, we are the rich man.
00:28 Get comfortable, get ready, and let's dive in. Welcome back to The Rich Man podcast with me, Melanie, your host. Today we're gonna talk about, we are officially depending on when you hear this episode, we are in the final countdown.
00:45 It's the final countdown. We are in the third trimester. Things are, things are happening absolutely frightening to think about being responsible for another human, but we're very excited.
00:58 Obviously you listen to the podcast for quite some time. You know, our journey getting pregnant has been a whirlwind of an experience, and just knowing that it's happening just feels so surreal that I almost don't believe it .
01:08 So I'm still the, the denial phase. Okay? But I get asked quite a bit, and I actually got this question when I first found on that I was pregnant and I announced my pregnancy, the question came up of like, okay, well what in your business is gonna change?
01:22 And it was partly due to a lot of people that follow me, desire to have a family one day. You're either a parent now and you want more space.
01:29 Like, there's a lot of anticipation, especially when it comes to the unknown, because you really don't know what to expect, especially with your first baby.
01:36 But every child's different, right? And we don't know how much of us will be needed. And I joke that when people have asked me, Melanie, like, what's gonna change your business when baby comes?
01:47 I say, absolutely nothing. absolutely nothing. And the reason why I say nothing's gonna change is because I've been preparing my business for this for over a year.
01:57 Like this entire year, 2022 has really been a year for me to create as much space in my business as possible.
02:04 We have gotten to 80 k months reoccurring income with just passive and group containers. So we have been building and building and building this.
02:15 And so what I wanna talk about is, and I obviously, again, I joke that nothing's gonna change, but I wanna walk you through the preparation of how I actually built this to, to, to become the business that actually is gonna support me in the season of life.
02:28 And that way I'm not like going into my business in a very, going into motherhood and my business in a very reactive state of like, holy s**t, nothing is put together.
02:38 I feel lost and confused and like, I, I didn't wanna feel like I was working against my business, if this makes sense.
02:45 So what I've been actively building is a business for today and tomorrow. And you'll hear me, I've talked about this before in the podcast, but I'm really adamant about whenever it comes to, like how I coach and who I coach.
02:56 So if you've been in my private space before in my containers I really challenge you to think about like, where is you want to go, because of course, we can look at sales today, sales tomorrow, sales this month.
03:06 But like, ultimately, are you building a business that matches the kind of life that you wanna live? And that was really, really important for me to, to do this year, because again, I wanted to go into motherhood with a very, you know, calm and spacious energy.
03:20 Not one that's like overwhelm to-dos. A lot of my, I've been hiring this past year to the mentors I've been working with.
03:27 I kind of shifted into coaches who are mothers, people who understand, you know, what it's like to, to navigate motherhood and also running a business which has been fantastic.
03:36 So if, if you need any recommendations for coaches who are, who are moms, I'm happy to provide that. Cause I did, they've just blown my mind.
03:42 Every friend of mine who is an entrepreneur and also a, a new mom, a newer mom, they said they wish they would've taken longer maternity.
03:49 So I've, I've been, I've been tapping into and plugging into people who have been there, right? B been been where I'm going.
03:55 And I've really decided, okay, what do I want my business to look like? So when I looked at like, what's actually doable right now in my space, I was like, okay, I need to take the time to, to kind of like pull back, not income wise, we often think that like, my income's gonna dip if I do this, but mine did a little bit, but only because we paused the mastermind.
04:14 We kept private coaching really small. I knew that in order for me to like really utilize my brain calories to like start mapping and planning a business that was supportive to like the, the life that I wanted to live, again, more space, more time, more freedom and flexibility in my schedule, I pulled back on our mastermind.
04:32 We paused our mastermind, and we're not gonna resume that until q2, so like April or May of next year. And so I, I paused my mastermind and then I limited my, I kept my private coaching at two people at a time.
04:47 I will not go beyond two people. Again, when I hold intimate spaces I wanna make sure that energetically I can, I can hold you, right?
04:55 I wanna make sure that like we're, I'm a hundred percent in it and I can't do that if I'm holding a lot of human beings, especially when I'm trying to build a foundation that's truly unshakable.
05:04 More pathways of cash, more passive income. I had to create this space mentally and physically in my schedule to really build out this vision.
05:14 Now, here's what's important. I did this when we were actively trying to conceive, like, I did this before I was pregnant, and I did this before, I had to, again, many times what we do as a whoops a daisy is we wait until we have to, until we're forced.
05:27 So it would've been a whole different conversation that I'm having with you right now if I had waited until I actually gave birth to be like, well, here's what's not working anymore, right?
05:36 So I, I wanted to build something, a vision, a business again, that felt supportive to me because I don't want to ever, my client and customer experience like what I provide to you is important to me.
05:47 And we have the matrix memberships. We have clients who are committed for a year with me, I wanna make sure again, that my service is there, my energy is there, my intention is there.
05:56 So what I want you to look at is just one, when you think about your business in general and, and what you want to hold and the business you wanna hold, doesn't match, doesn't match.
06:06 Do you want more space? I keep hearing a lot of people say every year, this time of year, I want more space in my schedule.
06:12 I want more time back. I want more passive income. I wanna raise my prices. But if no action is actually ever taken because you're afraid of a potential income dip, you're afraid of that recalibration stage, I am here to tell you like, now is the time to, to really consider what it is you actually want to have I in your business.
06:31 So for me, again, nothing is right or wrong or bad. For me, what felt really expansive was more passive income, larger group programs, and again, we were refined.
06:39 Were always improving just the onboarding, like all the details. Again, my priority is my, my clients and, and who's committed.
06:47 And then what felt really good at and in expansive for me. So if there was pulling back on private coaching mastermind 1 0 1, that is what I did, right?
06:54 That's what I did. So looking at how I wanted to reposition, just to give you some like actual tangible takeaways of like what we actually implemented going into you know, motherhood in the new year is I looked at where I'm like really sticky when it comes to formats of containers.
07:12 When I'm looking at what feels capacity for me. So like whatever we're of, when, whenever we're avoiding something, I'm like, Ooh, what needs to be fixed here?
07:21 Because I'm avoiding it for a reason. And it could be anything, but for me, the biggest issue that I had when it came to holding a lot of clients was the Voxer coaching.
07:30 And n again, nothing wrong with Voxer coaching, but I found myself resistant to the offer hours that I had set.
07:37 And we obviously know that like we, we leave a nine to five to start our own business, to like make our own rules.
07:43 And I was still following this like, corporate dynamic of like, I will be available from eight to 5:00 PM and I didn't like that.
07:49 And, and when I was thinking about like, baby coming into the mix, I don't know what kind of schedule this child's gonna have.
07:56 You know, like I know obviously you find your flow with it, but the pressure that I felt to have to show up in a certain window of time, I had an ick factor attached to it.
08:05 And naturally what happens is if we have resistance around a container, the format, the offer itself, like whatever it is, we're not gonna, it's gonna be harder to sell and harder to lead.
08:14 So I looked at, okay, what needs to be recalibrated here? And I was like, if I couldn't f**k it up, what would be the best case scenario?
08:22 And I was like getting rid of office hours. Hello. So I was like, let me just do that. I completely eliminated my Voxer office hours and I felt like the smallest intention of like, I will respond to you in 24 hours, excluding my day off on Tuesday, my c e o day and the weekend.
08:38 But you'll get your question answered. You'll get your questions answered in a 24 hour period. Like, you'll, you won't be left behind.
08:44 Like, I'm, I'm there for you. I'm we're good. No one died. No one was mad about it. People were like, oh great.
08:50 Thanks, thanks for showing us an example of what can happen. I'm like, I know, right? Like, how fun is this?
08:54 And I found myself so much more open to receive more clients. I literally was like, okay, this is fantastic. Let's just pop up.
09:04 I did the 11 days of Voxer, which was amazing. It sold out nearly immediately. The conversations were potent. Everyone who came through was just magnificent.
09:11 Like it was, I held eight more people and like a pop-up boxer coaching container. And it was just fantastic. So just to go to show you like, if we're paying attention to what feels sticking, we're constantly recalibrating.
09:24 It's amazing what will come through. So that was like a big piece of how we changed and reformatted going into this year.
09:30 We stopped doing video calls. Another thing that I was really adamant about is with private clients is I plan on breastfeeding.
09:38 And I know that with private clients, one, again, one of the biggest hangups that I had was being available to hop on Zoom calls.
09:45 And naturally, you know, like I, I dunno if you guys ever feel this way, but Zoom to me is very distracting.
09:49 Like my camera goes in and out of like blurry, it's very distracting, zoom. And like, I feel like I have to be at home in my office with my camera, good lighting in order for it to like run smoothly.
10:00 And I hate that, that pressure because ultimately private calls that I'm having with my clients are really just us going back and forth jumping into the, the nitty gritty and like having a conversation.
10:11 So I'm like, why don't I just do that? And then when I just did that and I was like, okay, audio only private calls amazing.
10:19 No one died. Everyone was like, this is fantastic. I could have my phone in my lap chat with my clients the entire time and everyone wins.
10:27 It's expansive. I could be anywhere I could have a baby on the boob. Like, perfect. So I'm like, that feels awesome to me.
10:33 That's one thing that we changed this year to prepare for baby. And then looking at our mastermind container we did biweekly calls and just Voxer and biweekly felt very sufficient.
10:42 It was.
